Inside the Madison Rose Industry

  • Madison Historical Society 39 Keep Street Madison, NJ, 07940 United States (map)

The heart of this presentation is a terrific documentary film by David Coultas on the spectacular rose industry in Madison, which ran roughly a century from 1856 into the early 1950s. By then, it was unable to compete with the growing power of foreign competitors. David’s mother, Cathie Coultas, was granddaughter of Joseph Ruzicka, a major force in the rose industry. Scheduled panelists include Carmasita Boyle, “Jimmy” Sodano, Art Heyl, and Pal Wells.
