Collections

The Madison we see today has been shaped by the forces of nature and external events and the energy of its people. At the Madison Historical Society our work is shaped by love of our community and curiosity about our shared past. Our collections represent these things and more: they represent the people who save, document, and remember out loud, they represent the devotion of our volunteers who assemble and care for them, and they represent the generosity of our donors who make it all possible.

We collect the following materials:

  • Photographs

  • Postcards

  • Newspaper clippings

  • Books on local, regional, and New Jersey history

  • Maps and Atlases

  • Records of Community Events

  • Records of Buildings and Monuments

  • Transportation

  • Records of Community and Religious Organizations

  • Records of War and Enlistment

  • Journals and Memoirs

  • Oral Histories
